Now that the top and middle of the spamclicking market has dropped out, the only people who click on spam at all are the sort who will click on 50 spam links. Surely digital source to CD to digital rip is lossy.

However, for electronic music, MODs (as in: music on disk (as in: floppies)) generated with trackers (such as Protracker, FastTracker, or OctaMED) make more sense, as they are the source of the sound, and require a miniscule fraction of the data space required by the CDDA format used on CDs.

AmiNET, the biggest collection of software on any of the networks, has a vast selection of them.

For re-mixing clips (eg for hip-hop), more bits per sample frame are of course better, but 16 bits are enough for speech, so should be plenty for anything else.
