I haven't watched anime in forever. The last ones I actually finished were Kill la Kill and Attack on Titan. They were mainstream pleb shit, but I watched them so I would have something to talk about with other people at a convention I went to. It was more of an icebreaker thing than actually caring about the show. Not that I go to conventions anymore though. They're so cancerous.

I tried watching something else a little while ago, but I just felt too bored. I couldn't finish watching it.

What's good these days? I'm really jaded and I've watched 300+ Laotian slideshows. I need something fresh rather than rehashed tropes for the millionth time.

Depends on what you want, but ``these days'' the shows I enjoy seem almost accidental. The last thing I enjoyed, for example, was Chaika, and that was pretty much only for the decent way it showed the difficult of adjusting from wartime to peace (I had just read The Worm Ouroboros), not for the plot or the characters (okay, Chaika was amusing) or the setting. Before that, Ping Pong was a very good sports anime for people like myself who don't like sports anime. Currently, UBW is supposed to be good if you're into Type Moon.

So what I enjoy lately is what I've been picking out of my backlog. Lupin III, for example, is fantastic.

Well after a burn out at the begining of the season, I decided to pick anime up again since this season looks promising.

Denpa Kyoushi looks like your typical NEET bait school series, but will possibly be an adequate filler series if the writing follows the tone and pacing of the manga. It is an adaptation of the manga of the same name by Takeshi Azuma, whose previous works include Change Boy and Chou Dokyuu Shoujo 4946. It is directed by Satou Masato who is primarily known for his work storyboarding, writing, and directing Detective Conan. Denpa Kyouhi features the talents of the supremely likeable Rina Hidaka, which should serve as a reason enough to at least give it three episodes.

Eotama is about the cat of the Chinese astrology seeking to become a member of the zodiac. It looks like your typical harem ecchi fanservice series with the hook being kemonomimi girls. Normally I would shy away from it, but the director of the project, Fumitoshi Oizaki has had a long and frequently talented career as a Key and Director. I will give it three to see if he is able to bring his A game to this project or whether he phones it in.

The new adaptation of Arslan Senkai is scheduled to air. While the previous OVA adaptations had their limitations I have hope that this adaptation will follow through with the spirit of the original LNs. Arslan Senkai is being directed by Noriyuki Abe, a veteran of shonen and action series with a penchant for skimping the budget on slow scenes and pouring the majority of his focus into producing sakuga for the action. It is using the Hiromu Arakawa(of Gin no Saji fame) manga adaptation as a source, so should Abe follow her pacing and composition we can expect an excellent adaptation. This is my most anticipated anime of the season simply because Arakawa can do no wrong and Arslan is a great source for her to work from.

Eikoku Ikke, Nihon o Taberu is a bit of a curiosity. It is based up a travel and dining guide by British author Michael Booth chronicling his family's their 100-day trip to Japan as they try a wide variety of Japanese foods. It is notable for the source material and it's western influenced character designs by Rareko. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the western fanbase to how a Japanese director translates an English author's impressions of Japanese culture and presents them to a Japanese audience.

Hokago no Pleiades is receiving a full series this season. The PV, although cherrypicked, demonstrates some of the most excellent animation previewed for this upcoming season. Shouji Saeki returns to once more demonstrate his skill with coming of age tales. However I am disappointed that he did not reunite with composer Shinkuchi Mistumune as this project seems to be uniquely suited for a collaboration between the two.

Also airing this season are the sequels Gintama°, Baby Steps 2, Diamond no Ace: Second Season, Digimon Adventure Tri, Hello!! Kiniro Mosaic, More BOOSTO, Kaitou Joker 2, Inexplicaplably popular shit, PriPara 2, The sound of millions of Mexicans orgasming, Still not Heaven's Feel. Sidonia no Kishi: Daikyuu Wakusei Seneki(tenative), Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love Revolutions, Bitches get told:2, The most realistic romance Japan has ever animated, More reasons to hate Uncle Go, Teekyuu 4.
