Post about games that are of VIP Quality or need VIPPER attention!
I'll start with Dwarf Fortress for obvious reasons! ( ˃ ˂)
Next up is Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst!
Sometimes I play with Japanese VIPPERs, they often don't speak a word of English but sometimes we swap emoticons! My SJIS for theirs! ( ί ί)
If I'm lucky, I'll see a VIPPER or two in TF2! Yes, on Weeabootique, though I rarely play anymore. ( ί -ί)
Currently enjoying Resonance of Fate, a JRPG about killing the christian god, guns, and street fashion. I enjoy playing dress-up with the pretty boys. Stop making me sexually confused Tri-Ace.
(Also, something like a third of the unlockable clothes I saw were ROF merchandise... that's pretty dumb, even if the devs most likely had no say in the matter. What sort of asshole walks around wearing a shirt with an effigy of themself?)
Tri-Ace really are at their best when they don't bother telling you what the hell is going on.
I'm thinking about getting Monster Hunter Tri for COOL QUALITY MONSTER HUNTING, but I'm also thinking of picking up Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Fragile Dreams - Farewell Ruins of the Moon.
Any input, VIPPER?
I have just learned both that there was another Alien Breed in production and that it is already out! This is very exciting news to me. I remember spending countless hours playing the nigh-impossible Alien Breed: Tower Assault. I haven't even played it yet, but I know this will be a must-have for VIPPERs everywhere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_XV-dlzYAw
I'm playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.
Fuck Mira, she sucks and I don't want to be forced to play as her.

Monster Hunter is probably my favorite game of all time. SMG2 seems the same as the first. Up to you though.
Fragile Dreams - Farewell Ruins of the Moon wasn't bad, but it was a tad on the easy side. The environments are beautiful - it seems like every wall is covered in amazing drawings and graffiti. If you are in the mood for a more relaxed game then it's a good choice.
I've been playing Strange Journey - I'm kind of dissappointed, because some of the monsters look really bad, like they were scaled down really poorly. The thing is, it will show a close up image when you fight a boss and the drawings are amazingly detailed. It makes me wish they would make a game on an HD console with some nice hi-res, hand drawn graphics. Also, the game is pretty easy so far and I was hoping for something epicly hard and long. Now I want to try Dark Spire, Etrian Odyssey, and Infinite Space, but I can't decide. I can only get one for a long vacation I'm going on - can any vippers recommend one over the others?
>>246 I want you to look back on this post when you reach sector E.
As for me, I've been playing a bunch of Super Mario World romhacks. The quality varies wildly, but I'm bored enough waiting for university to start again that quality really doesn't matter.
I wish there was an online version of Last Blade, it's always been more fun than the Street Fighter series.
>>249
Interesting, though I don't like how the GGPO site just assumes you're running windows. Looked all over and not one word about what platforms it runs on other than the download file extension. Wonder how hard it would be to port or if it works with wine.
www.cosmicbreak.com
It's like a combination of Virtua On and Custom Robo.
>>252
I'm going BRD. They have green GaoGaiGar with a sword as a battlefield summon. Can't beat that. I'd love to play with some VIPPERS.
Anybody playing MGS PEACE WALKER?
>>254 Well then, I guess you showed me! The only thing I can really say is watch out for sector G, but given you've survived sector E it shouldn't really be too problematic. Might want to bring along your own map, though.
Beyond that, I can't say with any honesty that the game gets that much harder at all. Sorry.
>>261 That's ok, Dark Spire is only like 12 bucks so I think I'm going to pick it up!
I was playing Juri on SSFIV for something like 10 hours, my arm feels like it's still doing quarter circle motions.
I'll play with you >>259
Look for ACommon some time.
I foolishly chose wiz though. You can't get any arena fights if you're wiz because almost everybody is wiz.
I just ran into a tanasinn mecha in Cosmic Break who awarded me 25 VIPcoins for acknowledging their fantastic custom skin but departed before I was able to take a screenshot. I hope that they post a screenshot on the image board!
>>264
I ended up restarting on DOS, because BRD is comprised entirely of morons. Part of the problem is that, as it appears some of the translation staff are from the 4th circle of hell, the game was pretty heavily promoted there. Some severely unVIP people are playing on BRD and WIZ. DOS appears to be mostly pretty cool dudes, however.
I'm sort of taking a break from the game so as to not burn myself out on it, like I did with other VIP QUALITY games like Blur and APB.
Currently playing Atelier Annie. I don't know why, but the general tone of the setting reminds me of the Marl Kingdom games. Also, every time Annie speaks, I can't help but imagine Kafuka speaking instead.
>>267
I don't have a DS, but I've played Maria and some of Elie, got stuck because I never got my library card. Wonder how the translation is going, my Nipspeak isn't quite good enough.
Try imagining Fuko instead(ML)
I can't stop playing with the Vocaloid function in MGS Peace Walker.
Cosmic Break is a lot of fun but if it becomes a cash shop nightmare like the Japanese version after the beta, then I won't be playing. The custom skin feature is really cool, though.
I really like playing contra (LEΦE`)

iiiiίΝίjjjjj²²²²²²²²²²
I once beat contra II, hard mode, one life.. I still suffer from PTSD ('A`)
(LEΦE`) Oh! and, I play Galaga too!
..anyone else play magic[theGathering]? ( L₯ิΦ₯ิ)
>>277
I used to play casually years ago around Scourge and Mirrodin. I stopped playing because everyone I knew wanted to play 3-8 player games with 100-200 card decks where it consisted of building little armies and nobody ever doing anything to anyone.
>>278
I still play Tempest, fortunately for me, I don't have enough friends to worry about an over populated game! Most of the time, I just play by myself. (LA`Bj
>>278
I used to play casually with friends, but stopped in the middle of Kamigawa.
Just got Dragon Quest IX in the mail today. Any game that let's you make a character with a big pink pompadour hairstyle has to have something going for it.
I'm playing Haven & Hearth atm, a build-everything yourself mmo featuring co-operation, ganking & lumberjacking: http://havenandhearth.com/portal
>Fragile Dreams - Farewell Ruins of the Moon
More like ";_; :The Game". Great game but so much predictable, shitty drama... that still gets to me.
>>246
Etrian Odyssey
About to start my first playthrough of Siren since I never bothered with it. Played New Translation and now I feel like playing the first two. So, terrible dub here I come YEAHHHHH.
>>284
WOAH
ARE YOU ME?
I noticed this, and only this, today on a shelf as well. I'm also curious.
I bought Valkyria Chronicles for about 1/4 the RRP today, I hope that it lives up to the hype I have heard!
In addition to this does anyone have any knowledge regarding the localisation of EO3?
>>286
Heh, I picked up the God of War I & II collection because I hadn't played it. Might get it in a week or two since the reviews sound interesting. Though what I really want is for Atelier Rorona to come out already.
>>287
That game is why I bought the PS3 in the first place. But then Inoue Marina is one of my favorite seiyuu, Itou Kanae is great too though. ACVp[AbvI
>In addition to this does anyone have any knowledge regarding the localisation of EO3?
$29.99
Pre-order Ships 9/21/2010
Monster Rancher DS is coming out on the 7th.
I have such a craving for raising monsters.
What's the best Dragon Quest game for the DS?
>>296
Dragon Quest IV, V and IX are really good. Can't go wrong with any of those. The translation at the start of IV is god awful, but it gets better as the game progresses. Rocket Slime is pretty fun, and Dragon Quest Monsters Joker is boring and grindy.
o`s`I o`s`I o`s`I onmI♫i O Oj
I wish they would have kept the formula they had for the original Dragon Quest Monster and Dragon Quest Monster 2.
Kingdom of GreatTree 4 lyfee

I have to hear this everytime I want to play a emulator on my PSP.
Who here plays InfiniteAion?
Since I was back in the states I picked up my copy of SMT: Strange Journey. Piss easy.
Regarding piss easy games:

Demon's Souls in 74 minutes

The bosses are the only thing that come close to kicking my ass, but it's still an awesome game. That soundtrack is amazing.
Bangai-o for XBLA
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3181152
Disregard the fool who can barely comprehend this game yet feels entitled to show his face and talk about it, there's also some game footage in the video. Hard to say whether it will be as great as the DS version for now, it feels pretty different.
At least the network sharing thing means that really hard stages will be available.
>>306
Looks like I'll have to get some Microsoft funbucks and dust off my 360 for this. I wish Treasure would publish stuff on PSN. ('A`)
If Treasure did a remake of Guardian Heroes with netplay, it'd probably be a major hit like Castle Crashers.
Just got DQ IX. I'm quite enjoying it thus far. Not too far into it, at level 15.
I humbly invite you all to my game of VIPPERS and DRAGONS:

Umihara Kawase on the SNES:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hw2yr0cRbGs
This game is really hard to get around in. (And the music, it's too catchy! ( ˃ ˂))
>>310
The sequel is also great as well! In fact, I have a link to a .rar I found that contains both soundtracks, games, the bad manga, and extra images.

Learning to do the advanced techniques feels good.
Ok, I've just bought a playstation 1 and I don't know what to play with it. Any suggestions?
I feel ashamed to call myself a gamer when I've never played bangai-o and have missed out on the DS version. Q|P|
Fantastic list (particularly No One Can Stop Mr. Domino) but I'd add Metal Slug 1 & 2, LSD, Medieval, Dino Crisis 1 & 2, Tekken 3, Rayman and Silent Hill to that.

Valkyrie Profile
Vagrant Story
DoDonPachi
Raystorm, Raycrisis
Castlevania SOTN

So what are you doing to solve this problem RIGHT NOW?

PS3 VIPPERs, we need to VIP together in Spelunker HD whenever it comes out.
>>320
Sorry, but this games is too ugly for me. I like retro graphics, but I'm not very nostalgic about the amateurish 90's shareware aesthetics. (And the snake in classic mode being negligently drawn smaller and interpolated is just as offensive as the tile set made of royalty-free textures)
That post is gonna sound way too angry, sorry! But the recent wave of botched retro remakes really annoys me.
Guess I'm becoming old. (Which reminds me of a link you VIPPERs might enjoy - http://gamesolderthanme.blogspot.com/)
>>319
I just purchased a copy to fix my shame. I plan on abandoning all of my duties and responsibilities to play this game when I get it.
>>320
HASSURU HASSURU DUN DUN DADADADA DUN DUN DUNNN DUN DUN
Does anyone still have the link to the video of that black guy playing Spelunker in Japanese?
I would like to turn everyone's attention to Frictional Games' new horror game, Amnesia the Dark Descent. I just finished it a day ago and it is probably the scariest horror game I've ever played. Plus it was a load of fun! Highly recommended!
Could VIPPERs recommend VIP QUALITY SNES games? I am sorely lacking in SNES games in general, for I only have Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World. I'd rather not games that are hard to find or obscenely expensive due to rarity, though.
>>325
That's easy!
Super Metroid
Contra III
Super Mario RPG
Super Ghouls and Ghost
R-type 3
Blackthorne
All the Donkey Kong games
Gradius 3
Super Castlevania IV
Don't forget Earthbound!
Really, though: Age of Mythology is excellent, as is Golden Sun. Just two games that I've been playing this month, at least.
OH YEAH AND THE NEW HALO GAME
>Could VIPPERs recommend VIP QUALITY SNES games?
Shiren the Wanderer
Tactics Ogre
Romancing SaGa 1-3
Shin Megami Tensei 1-2
Dragon Quest 5/6
LIVE-A-LIVE
>I'd rather not games that are hard to find or obscenely expensive due to rarity, though.
oh, you weren't talking about roms. ('A`)
I picked up the new Professor Layton game today. These brain teasers are like crack.
Lord of the Rings Online is now free to play. I play freely. ( ί °ί)
