I keep telling to myself think that if your objective is to be able to read stuff aided with references, and to communicate in speech or through computers, then learning Japanese stops being some sort of "lifetime achievement" and becomes no more menacing than English or Spanish. I think remembering kanjis and being able to handwrite them is not that important when you're not learning a language for business or to live a long time in that country. Maybe that's just a convenient lie I need so that someday I'll finally stop consider learning it and just get fucking started.

If there's a boy and a girl of similar age, with similar interests, ability to have conversations over a long time, and the boy even admits the girl is cute, why not go for her? Is the boy ashamed? I had a discussion with my friend yesterday. There's that company that makes (delicious) fruit drinks, and under the cap of every bottle is a one-liner; most often a joke, a humorous pick-up line, or a pun. My friend argues that such thing would never pass in a "normal" country (as opposed to Eastern Europe where I live), because it's pointless -- you pop your bottle, read the line, probably smile, and trash the cap. I don't think so, it seems to me like a normal thing to do, because it's just too "cool" and does no harm to anyone.
So, VIPPERS, are there funnies under the caps of bottles where you live?

In France, there's a brand of candy named "Carambar", that started printing terrible jokes inside the wrapping in the 70's. The jokes are so horribly bad that "blague carambar" is a popular French expression to say "unfunny joke". They're still doing it, because kids really look forward to just how lame the jokes can get. I got drafted last in the physics lab. Actually, I didn't get drafted at all, because there was an odd number of people and I am alone in my team. At first I was like "hey, I gonna write reports myself", but then we got informed that both squad members have to write a report each, and these two reports have to form an integral, uh, integrity. Once again, nobody will try to screw up what I am doing and once again will my records be the best ever, just like three years ago. Excelsior.
