I have visited two and neither of them helped me at all. But it might help you. The way I see it, having a psychologist is the equivalent to having a friend who is willing to listen and not judge. Although defining them in this way makes them seem worthless, close and caring friends are extremely rare.

Having said that, visiting a psychologist did not help me at all because they didn't match my personality. However, seeing a psychologist might help you. And so, if you have nothing to lose, than why not? I don't know why you want to visit, but here is an article about memory that might pertain to you.

The article brushes on bad memories and the brain's ability to detach your emotional response from the memory itself. I think this is a large portion of what goes on in therapy for many people. This is me just talking, but I know that I still struggle with memories that still affect me. But then I try to take some joy in the fact that I am only getting further and further away from it as I get older. I hope my response helped you decide. And I'm very sorry if it didn't.
