I genuinely do not understand your friend's cheating within this context. Professors make a decent salary/$90,000 average. This being the case, why in the world would a professor accept a bribe from a student when the professor could get caught and lose tenure or lose his job.
Considering all that a professor has in stake, exactly how much could a student offer in return for a good grade? It would have to be a lot of money and I doubt that many students are capable of offering anywhere near that much. (However, all of this logic collapses when sex and young, pretty females are added into the equation. --I personally doubt that much student-teacher relationships are going on, but I could be wrong.)
